Ingredients

  • Shrimp:
    • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
    • 1 cup buttermilk
    • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • Batter:
    • 1 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Boom Boom Sauce:
    • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
    • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
    • 2 tablespoons sriracha
    • 1 tablespoon ketchup
    • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the shrimp, buttermilk, and hot sauce. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. Heat 1 inch of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Dredge the shrimp in the batter and fry in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Drain the shrimp on paper towels.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, ketchup, and garlic powder.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the boom boom sauce. 
  • Serve with rice, noodles, or your favorite veggies for a complete meal.
