Ingredients
Scale
For The Turnovers:
- 2 puff pastry sheets (1 box)
- 1 can of pie filling (any flavor)
- 1 egg
- 1 Tablespoon water
For The Icing (Optional):
- 1 cup confectioners (powdered) sugar
- 2 Tablespoons milk
Instructions
For The Turnovers:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Thaw puff pastry sheets according to package directions. When thawed lay each square out on a lightly floured surface. Using a knife (or pizza cutter) cut each sheet into four squares to make 8 turnovers.
- Scoop 1-2 Tablespoons per filling onto the center of each square. Fold to form a triangle. Repeat until all turnovers are filled. Seal the edges of each turnover together with the back of a fork. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Add egg and water to a small bowl. Whisk with a fork to combine. Brush egg wash on top of all turnovers.
- Bake for 18-24 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown. (Wondering how long to bake puff pastry turnovers? Aim for that golden perfection!) Let cool completely.
For The Icing (Optional):
- Whisk together powdered sugar and milk with a fork in a small bowl. Add icing to a ziplock bag and cut corners. Ice all turnovers as desired.
Notes
- Make sure to thaw puff pastry sheets according to the package instructions. This typically involves leaving them in the refrigerator for a few hours or at room temperature for about 30 minutes until pliable.
- ou can use any flavor of pie filling you love—apple, blueberry, cherry, or even pumpkin! Feel free to mix and match flavors for variety.
- The egg wash not only gives the turnovers a beautiful golden color but also helps seal the edges. If you prefer a vegan option, you can use a mixture of plant-based milk and a bit of oil instead.
