Dry Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp Baking powder
- 1/4 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 cup Brown sugar (packed, light or dark)
- 1/4 cup Cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch
- 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Wet Ingredients:
- 1 large Egg
- 2 tsp Vanilla extract (pure)
- 3 tbsp Vegetable oil
- 1 tsp White vinegar
- 1 tsp Liquid-gel food coloring (red; see notes)
For the Frosting:
- 7/8 cup Unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 block Cream cheese (3 ounces or 85g)
- 1 1/2 cups Powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp Milk powder (instant)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
- Prepare Wet Mixture: In another bowl, combine brown sugar, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, egg, vanilla, white vinegar, and red food coloring. Mix well.
- Combine Mixtures: Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a thick batter forms.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Make Frosting: Beat softened butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk powder together until smooth and creamy.
- Cool and Frost: Let the brownies cool completely before spreading the frosting on top.
Cut and Serve: Slice into 9 equal servings and enjoy!
