RUSSET POTATOES

Using russet potatoes for this recipe ensures that the roasted potatoes achieve the perfect balance of crispy exterior and soft, tender interior, making them an excellent choice for air frying.

  • High Starch Content: Russet potatoes are known for their high starch content, which results in a fluffy texture when cooked.
  • Thick Skin: Their thick skin becomes wonderfully crispy when roasted, providing a delightful contrast to the soft interior.
  • Mild Flavor: They have a mild, earthy flavor that pairs well with a variety of seasonings and herbs.
  • Versatile Use: Ideal for roasting, baking, mashing, and frying, making them a versatile choice for numerous recipes.

SHOULD YOU PEEL POTATOES BEFORE AIR FRYING?

It is optional to peel russet potatoes before air frying.

Reasons to Leave the Skin On:

  • Extra Crispiness: The skin helps achieve a crispier texture when roasted.
  • Nutritional Benefits: Potato skins are rich in nutrients, including fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
  • Enhanced Flavor: The skin adds a slightly earthy flavor and a rustic appeal to the dish.
  • Time-Saving: Leaving the skin on saves preparation time.

Reasons to Peel the Potatoes:

  • Texture Preference: Some people prefer the smooth texture of peeled potatoes.
  • Aesthetic Choice: Peeled potatoes can look more uniform and may be preferred for certain presentations.
  • Personal Preference: If you or your family members prefer potatoes without skin, peeling might be the better option.

For this recipe, quartered and cut potatoes with their skin on work wonderfully, contributing to both the texture and taste of the roasted russet potatoes in the air fryer.
