Theres usually two camps when it comes to salting pasta water. Camp #1: the non-salters of pasta water and camp #2 the salters of pasta water.

I’m in camp 2. And you totally should be too. ;)

On back of every single box of pasta, it says to salt the pasta water, but did you know that not one package that I can ever find actually tells you how much to salt to salt your pasta water with?

It’s true, my friends. Take a look next time you’re in the pasta isle at your local grocery store. So, clearly salting your pasta water is important but I NEED you to know how to salt pasta water. Why? Because, yes, it IS important.

If you’ve never salted your pasta water, it’s never to late. Ever. So, start now with these simple and easy directions. :)

How to Salt Pasta Water: My Ratio:

It’s all about a ratio my friends, and here’s mine:

1:1:4…

Thats 1 pound of pasta (any type) to 1 Tablespoon salt to 4 quarts (16 cups) of water.

It’s that simple, y’all!

Steps to Salting Your Pasta Water

  1. In a large stockpot, over medium-high heat bring water to a rolling boil. Add the salt. Stir.
  2. Add uncooked pasta to stockpot. Cook according to package directions, stirring occasionally to prevent pasta from sticking together. Drain water.
  3. Use pasta in your favorite pasta recipe.

Salting your pasta water is so important and will take any pasta dish to the next level…

So, just do it…

Ingredients

  • 1lb uncooked pasta, any type
  • 1 Tablespoon Salt
  • 4 quarts (16 cups) Water

Instructions

  1. In a large stockpot, over medium-high heat bring water to a rolling boil. Add the salt. Stir.
  2. Add uncooked pasta to stockpot. Cook according to package directions, stirring occasionally to prevent pasta from sticking together. Drain water.
