This ain’t just any ‘ol dip. ya’ll….

It’s 7 layer mexican salad made with all fresh ingredients and you can whip some up in about 10 minutes. So, yes, it is easy to make!

We actually took this 7 layer Mexican salad dip to a Christmas party we attended last weekend, and it was a hit! We were told it was soooooo good and soooooo awesome. I’ll take it. 😉

We serve ours with tortilla chips. It’s like a taco explosion in yo mouth. I was even inclined to put hot sauce on mine (but I’m THAT hot sauce freak!). Ha!

  • Sliced Olives
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Tomatoes
  • Green Onions
  • Cilantro (optional)
  • Seasonings: chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder
  • For serving: tortilla chips

Steps to Making the Ultimate 7 Layer Mexican Salad

  1. Prep– chop and dice the tomatoes, cilantro, green onion. Grate the cheddar cheese.
  2. Season the beans– you’re gonna season the beans with the homemade spices which is just homemade taco seasoning.
  3. Layer– In a 9 x 13 baking dish layer like this: seasoned refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, olives, green onions, and cilantro (if using).

Ways to use Leftover 7 Layer Dip

* If you take this to a party there will be none left (promise!) but we made some just for our house so there were leftovers. 

  • On tacos- because everything you need for tacos is already in the dip, yo!
  • Baked potatoes- we made baked potatoes and loaded them up with this dip. They were awesome.

Ingredients

For the Dip

  • 2– 16oz cans of refried beans
  • 16 oz prepared guacamole
  • 16 oz sour cream
  • 1– 2.25oz can sliced olives
  • 8oz sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 6 Roma tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup green onions, sliced
  • 3 Tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

For the Seasoning

  • 1 Tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika 
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

For Serving

  • Tortilla Chips (we used 2 bags)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl combine refried beans with seasonings/spices: chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until thoroughly combined. Spread seasoned refried beans mixture into a 9 x 13 baking dish
  • Layer. On top of the refried beans layer in this order: seasoned refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, grated cheese, tomatoes, olives, green onions, and cilantro (if using). Serve with tortilla chips. 

Notes

  • Prepared guacamole can be found in the same section as sour cream and/or in your produce/deli department.
